NEWS – China launched Chang’e-6 mission  to the far side of the Moon

• Launch: China’s Chang’e-6 mission, launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Center, aims to bring back samples from the far side, a first in space exploration history.
• Duration: The mission spans 53 days, with an orbiter circling the Moon and a lander descending into the South Pole-Aitken basin.
• Scientific Focus: The South Pole-Aitken basin, formed by a significant impact, potentially holds material from the lunar mantle, offering insights into the Moon’s internal structure and history.
• Sample Collection: The lander will collect samples through scooping and drilling. An ascent vehicle will transfer these samples to the orbiter’s service module for return to Earth.
• Previous Achievements: China previously achieved a soft landing on the far side with the Chang’e-4 mission in 2019. This mission explored the Von Karman crater with a rover, marking a significant milestone in lunar exploration.
