NEWS – Professor Urbasi Sinha from the Raman Research Institute (RRI) has been selected for the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Distinguished International Associates (DIA) programme
HIGHLIGHTS OF PROGRAMME
- Programme Duration: May 2024 to May 2025.
- Global Selection: Urbasi is one of 11 academicians selected globally.
- Theme: ‘Technologies for the Future’.
- Research Focus: Urbasi heads RRI’s Quantum Information and Computing (QuIC) laboratory, focusing on secure quantum communications using satellites and other photonic quantum technologies.
Collaboration and Funding
- Lead UK Collaborator: Professor Adrian Kent, University of Cambridge.
- Funding: RRI will receive up to £10,000 for collaborative scientific activities and research.
- Use of Funds: Enhance collaborative research and scientific activities between RRI and the University of Cambridge
ABOUT DISTINGUISHED INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATES (DIA) PROGRAMME
- Aims to Strengthen collaborations between the awardee’s home country, the UK, and global partners.
- Create a peer support network of International Associates for cooperation and support.
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge to build capacity and talent in engineering communities in the applicant’s home country and the UK.
- Grants are intended to enhance the impact of collaboration on research, innovation, and policy links with the UK.
- Up to £10,000 for up to 12 months.
- Awardees will participate in an international network, supported by the Academy, with annual events and online engagement opportunities.
