NEWS – Vande Metro was renamed ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’ by Indian Railways.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The train connects Bhuj to Ahmedabad, covering 360 km in approximately six hours.
- It aims to connect urban centers with peripheral towns, unlike other metros that cover short distances.
- The train can seat 1,150 passengers.
- Designed with inclusivity features, such as Divyangjan-friendly toilets and a fully sealed flexible gangway.
- The train facilitates faster journeys between mid-distance cities.
- It has rapid acceleration and deceleration, with driving cabins at both ends to eliminate turnaround time.
- Equipped with 12 air-conditioned coaches, automatic sliding doors, modular interiors, continuous LED lighting, vacuum toilets, and panoramic windows.
- Includes safety systems like KAVACH for collision avoidance, automatic smoke/fire detection, and emergency lights.
