NEWS – The list of 69 awardees for the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2024 was announced by Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi.

KARNATAKA SAMBHRAMA-50 SUVARNA MAHOTSAVA AWARDS
- Purpose: Commemorating the golden jubilee of the renaming of the state as Karnataka.
- Total Awardees: 100 recipients (50 men and 50 women)
- Prize: Rs. 50,000 per awardee

- Television Achievement: Actor Sihi Kahi Chandru for contributions to the small screen
ABOUT THE RAJYOTSAVA AWARD
- Established in 1966, this is Karnataka’s second-highest civilian honor.
- Occasion: Awarded on November 1st annually, coinciding with Kannada Rajyotsava, Karnataka’s state formation day.
- Eligibility: Recognizes individuals for contributions in fields such as:
- Arts, Literature, Science, Education, Social Service, Sports, Medicine, Industry, and Public Affairs.
- Inclusivity: Open to non-residents who contribute to Karnataka’s welfare.
- Exceptions: Not awarded in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, and 2009.
- Financial and Material Rewards:
- 5 lakh cash prize
- 24-gram gold medal
