SWAVALAMBINI: WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME FOR NORTHEAST INDIA
NEWS – Swavalambini: Women Entrepreneurship Programme for Northeast India Launched by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary in Assam, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Objective: Empower female students in Northeast HEIs with entrepreneurial skills, resources, and mentorship.
- Collaboration: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and NITI Aayog.
- Implementation: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) in collaboration with NITI Aayog.
- Target Institutions: Gauhati University, NEHU, Kiang Nangba Government College, RiBhoi College, Mizoram University, Government Champai College, Lunglei Government College, Handique College, Dispur College.
Key Features:
- Structured Approach: Stage-wise entrepreneurial process from awareness to funding.
- Recognition & Awards: Successful ventures will be recognized and awarded.
- Inauguration: Virtually launched in 9 colleges/universities by Shri Jayant Chaudhary.
Program Components:
- Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP): 2-day session for 600 students on basic entrepreneurial concepts.
- Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP): 40-hour training for 300 selected students covering business aspects (finance, market, legal, networking).
- Mentorship: 6 months of support for EDP participants.
- Faculty Development Programme (FDP): 5-day training for HEI faculty on entrepreneurship education.
- Award to Rewards Initiative: Recognizes successful women entrepreneurs.
Alignment with NEP 2020:
- Builds on NEP’s focus on skill integration, industry collaboration, and hands-on experience.
Goals:
- 10% of EDP trainees to launch successful enterprises.
- Instill a culture of entrepreneurship within HEIs.
- Create sustainable women-led enterprises.
