Why in news? The 37th National Games will be held at  Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa.

• Mascot-MOGA, representation of Indian Bison
• Theme -National integration
• It is the first time national games is held in Goa
• Governed by the IOA, and funded by the central government and the state government of the host state.

About National Games

• National games is referred to as the “Indian Olympics,” until 1938
• Indian Olympic Games were held in Feb 1924 in Delhi to select Indian competitors for the 1924 Paris Olympics.
• First national games were held in Lahore (Undivided)
• First Modern National Games on the lines of the Olympics were held in 1985 in New Delhi.
