ASSET RECOVERY INTERAGENCY NETWORK–ASIA PACIFIC (ARIN-AP)
NEWS – India, represented by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), has been included in the Steering Committee of the Asset Recovery Interagency Network-Asia Pacific (ARIN-AP).
ABOUT ARIN-AP
- Objective: ARIN-AP aims to deprive criminals of their illicit profits through a collaborative, multi-agency approach, effectively serving as a professional network for tackling the proceeds of crime.
- Function: The network facilitates cross-border cooperation on asset tracing, freezing, and confiscation within the Asia-Pacific region.
- Composed of various law enforcement agencies from across the region, all dedicated to combating financial crimes serving as a central hub for professionals dealing with crime proceeds, promoting coordinated efforts in asset recovery.
- The network includes 28 member jurisdictions and nine observers.
- Informal organization operating within the broader Camden Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network (CARIN) framework, which includes over 100 jurisdictions globally.
DIRECTORATE OF ENFORCEMENT (ED)
- India’s Nodal Agency: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) acts as the nodal agency for India within ARIN-AP.
- Committee Involvement: As part of the Steering Committee, India plays a key role in decision-making and coordination within the network.
