BBMP’S NEW LAKE MAINTENANCE POLICY
NEWS – BBMP’s initiative to involve private entities, nonprofits, and citizen groups in lake maintenance. Policy pending approval from Karnataka High Court.

- Also aims to create parks, open spaces, and ensure general lake upkeep.
Implementation Process
- Private entities must submit proposals to BBMP Chief Commissioner.
- They can execute work or contribute funds; Karnataka Tank Conservation and Development Authority’s approval is mandatory.
- BBMP engineers to supervise projects for transparency and public disclosure.
Public Feedback
- Positive response from lake conservation groups like Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust and Friends of Lakes.
- Emphasis on promoting tripartite agreements to prevent misuse of funds or lake spaces.
