News: Bengaluru is accelerating the LED Streetlighting Project to improve energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption.

Highlights

  • Power savings: Up to 61.01% reduction in electricity consumption after full implementation.
  • Target: Install 3,02,919 LED streetlights across Bengaluru.
  • Current Progress: 2,67,270 LED streetlights installed.
  • CCMS Integration: Only 7,567 of 24,677 Centralised Control & Monitoring System (CCMS) panels installed.

Government Directions

  • Complete pending works within 2 months.
  • Replace all conventional streetlights with LED lights.
  • Integrate all streetlights with CCMS for real-time monitoring.
  • Resolve streetlight complaints within 48 hours.
  • Penalise contractors for delays and poor maintenance.
