PLASTIC WASTE REDUCTION – DRINKPRIME’S SUSTAINABLE MODEL
- Startup: DrinkPrime (Bengaluru-based)
- Problem Addressed: Excessive use of single-use 20-litre plastic water cans
- Solution Highlights:
- Over 2.5 lakh subscribers served
- Reduces approx. 7.5 lakh kg of plastic waste/month
- Closed-loop system: Reclaims, ultrasonically cleans, and reuses filters
- Promotes circular economy and sustainable urban hydration
REVIVING WATER BODIES – UNITED WAY’S “WAKE THE LAKE”
- Initiative: Wake the Lake
- Achievements:
- Revived 80 lakes in Bengaluru
- Removed pollutants and rejuvenated aquatic life
- Impact: Enhances urban water security and biodiversity
RAINWATER CONSERVATION – ONE BILLION DROPS CAMPAIGN
- Focus: Groundwater recharge & rainwater harvesting
- Actions Taken:
- Installed 8,200+ rainwater harvesting wells
- 10.4 million litres of water saved from runoff and evaporation
- Benefit: Improved water availability and reduced water wastage in urban areas
BIODIVERSITY PROMOTION – INSECT CAFES BY EY GDS
- Initiative: Set up 21 insect cafes in public gardens
- Locations: Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, Doddasaagare Botanical Garden
- Partnerships: EY GDS, Bhumi, Vibhinna India Foundation
- Structure & Purpose:
- Made from upcycled wood, bamboo, and mud
- Provide safe spaces for pollinators (bees, butterflies, etc.)
- Promote urban biodiversity and ecological balance
