Why in news?
Suresh Patel recently took the charge as new CVC.
About central vigilance commission:
- CVC is a statutory body set up in 1964 on recommendations of Committee on Prevention of Corruption, to advise and guide Central Government agencies in field of vigilance.
- CV Commissioner consist of a chairperson and not more than two Vigilance Commissioners as Members.
Appointment of CVC and its Members:
- They are recommended by a three-member committee consisting of the Prime Minister, the Union Minister of Home Affairs, and the Leader of the opposition in the loksabha
