CHIEF JUSTICE OF HIGH COURTS IN INDIA
- Post created by Article 217
- Appointed by the President in consultation with the Chief Justice of India (CJI), the Governor of the State
- Chief Justice of the High Court is appointed as per the policy of having Chief Justices from outside the respective States
- Qualification of judges – Citizen of India + Held a judicial office in the territory of India for ten years or + Advocate of a high court for ten years
- Holds office until he attains the age of 62 years
- Resign from office by writing to the President + Removed from his office by the President on the recommendation of the Parliament

- Chief Court of Mysore was established in 1884 at ATTARA KACHERI ( Constructed by Arcot Narrainsawmy Mudaliar under Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, as building of Public Offices + construction was ordered by Bowring)
- Charles George Plumer was the first Chief justice of Mysore high court before independence
- Venkataramaiah served as first chief justice of Karnataka high court from 1 November 1956 – 16 July 1957
- The Karnataka High Court is currently functional in Bengaluru, Hubballi-Dharwada and Kalaburagi
- There are 45 judges in the High Court out of a sanctioned maximum strength of 62
