NEWS – International Energy Agency (IEA) published the Clean Energy Transitions Programme annual report 2023
CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITIONS PROGRAMME (CETP)
- Launched in 2017 by the International Energy Agency (IEA) to accelerate progress towards a global net-zero energy system.
- Aims to support emerging markets and developing economies through world-class analysis, technical assistance, and capacity building.
- Structured across three pillars: establishing clean energy transition goals, facilitating coordination among multilateral organizations, and enabling global clean energy transitions.
CETP Achievements in 2023:
- New fuel standards for trucks in Indonesia, Energy Transition Plan in Uganda, and regulations for the spot electricity market in China.
- Aligning policies with IEA recommendations and reinforcing the Agency’s advisory role.
- Publications such as the Latin America Energy Outlook and World Energy Outlook Special Report on clean cooking in Africa.
- Support for IEA’s work on energy efficiency, critical minerals, energy employment, and clean energy investment.
- Contribution to global energy dialogue outcomes in G20, G7, and ASEAN Ministerial meetings.
- Engagement with UN climate meeting COP28 in Dubai and support for 1.5°C-aligned energy transitions in the Global Stocktake outcome.
