NEWS: Special Gram Sabhas held on Gandhi Jayanti to launch People’s Plan Campaign 2026–27 – “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas”.

ABOUT PEOPLE’S PLAN CAMPAIGN

  • Annual Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) exercise → launched in 2018.
  • Helps Panchayats prepare Panchayat Development Plans (PDPs) for the next financial year.
  • Focus → participatory planning + economic development + social justice.
  • Covers all 29 subjects under the Eleventh Schedule.

PLANNING PROCESS

  • Gram Sabha → identifies local needs, gaps + priorities.
  • Panchayats → prepare development plans.
  • Plans → uploaded on eGramSwaraj.

GRAM SABHA

  • Article 243(b) → persons registered in electoral rolls of a village.
  • Permanent body of village voters → not a tier of Panchayati Raj.
  • Article 243A → powers/functions determined by State laws.
  • Functions → approve plans + review expenditure + monitor Panchayats + discuss local priorities.
