News: The Union Government informed Parliament that 2.45 lakh cases are pending in Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs), even as new Fast-Track Courts have been proposed for paper leak cases.

About FTSCs

• Launched to ensure speedy trial of: Rape cases, Cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
• Aim to provide timely justice to women and children.

Current Status

• 775 FTSCs functioning across 29 States/UTs (as of 30 April 2026).
• 398 are exclusive POCSO Courts.
