FOUR-HORNED ANTELOPE
- Species Name: Tetracerus quadricornis
- Size: Small bovid antelope, smallest in Asia
- Distribution:
- Endemic to India and Nepal
- Range from Himalayan foothills to Deccan Plateau in India
- Habitat:
- Found in open, dry, deciduous forests in hilly areas
- Prefer areas with grass cover and close to water bodies
Physical Features
- Yellowish-brown to reddish coat
- Slender with small legs and short tail
- Four horns: two between ears and two on forehead (males only)
Behavior
- Diurnal and solitary
- Can be seen in loose groups of 3-4
Conservation Status
- IUCN Red List: Vulnerable
