NEWS – Centre Issues Scheme Guidelines for Funding under the National Green Hydrogen Mission

  • Issuing Body: Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India
  • Purpose: Funding of testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support under the National Green Hydrogen Mission

KEY ASPECTS OF THE GUIDELINES

  1. Focus on Quality and Testing Ecosystem
    • Ensures compliance with specified standards/guidelines in the Green Hydrogen (GH2) sector.
    • Addresses gaps in existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes in the GH2 value chain.
  2. Support for Testing Facilities
    • New Testing Facilities: Creation of new facilities.
    • Upgradation: Enhancement of existing facilities to ensure safe and secure operations.
  3. Budget and Implementation
    • Budgetary Outlay: Rs. 200 Crores until FY 2025-26.
    • Implementing Agency: National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE).
  4. Goals of the Scheme
    • Develop robust quality and performance testing facilities.
    • Ensure quality, sustainability, and safety in GH2 production and trade.

NATIONAL GREEN HYDROGEN MISSION

  • Launch Date: January 4, 2023
  • Total Outlay: Rs. 19,744 Crores up to FY 2029-30
  • Objectives:
    • Aatma Nirbhar Bharat: Achieve self-reliance through clean energy.
    • Global Inspiration: Serve as a model for global Clean Energy Transition.
    • Decarbonization: Significantly reduce the carbon footprint.
    • Fossil Fuel Independence: Reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports.
    • Leadership: Position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market.
