- A hydrogen-powered train uses Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells to convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity.
- Replaces diesel traction with zero-emission propulsion, producing only water vapour as a by-product.
- The 10-coach trainset is the world's longest and most powerful hydrogen-powered train designed for broad-gauge operations.
- Hydrogen is produced externally, preferably using renewable energy (green hydrogen).
HOW IT WORKS
- Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis and stored in high-pressure tanks.
- PEM fuel cells generate electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen.
- Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries provide peak power and enable regenerative braking.
- A liquid cooling system maintains the optimal operating temperature of fuel cells.
