NEWS – Recently, the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for organic products between India and Taiwan has been implemented.

Implementing Agencies

  • India: Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry
  • Taiwan: Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA), Ministry of Agriculture

Key Provisions

  • Agricultural products meeting India’s National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) standards can be sold in Taiwan as organically produced.
  • Products meeting Taiwan’s Organic Agriculture Promotion Act standards can be sold in India as organically produced.
  • Both countries allow display of respective organic logos (“India Organic” and “Taiwan Organic”).

  • Simplified Export Process: Avoids dual certifications, reducing compliance costs.
  • Enhanced Trade: Streamlines compliance with a single regulation, fostering greater trade opportunities in the organic sector.
