NEWS – Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launches two Geoportals namely ‘Bhuvan Panchayat (Ver. 4.0)” portal for rural land record and “National Database for Emergency Management (NDEM Ver. 5.0)” DEVELOPED BY INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (ISRO)

BHUVAN PANCHAYAT (VER. 4.0):

• Purpose: Supports “Space-based Information Support for Decentralized Planning (SISDP)”
• Target Audience: Rural land record management, Panchayats, grassroots level citizens
• Benefits:
  • Empowers citizens with real-time data
  • Reduces dependency on local administration
  • Promotes ease of living and reduces corruption
  • Digitizes and revolutionizes land record management

NATIONAL DATABASE FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (NDEM VER. 5.0):

• Purpose: Provides space-based inputs on natural disasters
• Target Audience: Disaster risk reduction in India and neighboring countries
• Benefits:
  • Aids in disaster risk reduction and early warning systems
  • Provides continuous monitoring and valuable inputs through a command center
  • Enhances land use and land change (LULC) information

SIGNIFICANCE AND VISION:

• Reforms Continuation: Part of reforms introduced by Prime Minister Modi over the past decade
• Space Technology Integration: Space technology now plays a significant role in infrastructure development, planning, and disaster management
