KACHCHHI KHAREK

• 2^nd fruit in Gujrat to get GI tag
• Also known as Kharek or Kharek (in some regions)
• Traditional dried fruit from the Kachchh region in Gujarat – made from dates and is a popular snack known for its sweet and tangy taste
• Known for its natural sweetness from the dates and has a unique combination of sweet and tangy flavors
• Good source of natural sugars, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals + known to provide energy and can be a healthy alternative to processed sweets
• Often exchanged as a traditional gift during festivals and special occasions
• Part of the local culinary traditions, and its preparation methods have been passed down through generations
• Dates are rich in dietary fiber, promoting digestion and gut health + contain essential minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and copper
