KALA SANSKRITI VIKAS YOJANA (KSVY)

News: The Ministry of Culture has invited applications under the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY) to strengthen India's creative economy.

About

  • KSVY is a Central Sector umbrella scheme of the Ministry of Culture.
  • It promotes, preserves and disseminates India's tangible and intangible cultural heritage through financial assistance.

Major Sub-Schemes

  • Promotion of Guru-Shishya Parampara: Monthly assistance to Gurus and Shishyas for traditional art training.
  • Financial Assistance for Promotion of Art & Culture: Supports festivals, exhibitions, seminars, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsavs and organisations preserving Buddhist & Tibetan culture.
  • Financial Assistance for Building Grants: Supports cultural infrastructure such as auditoriums, studio theatres and Tagore Cultural Complexes.
  • Financial Assistance for Veteran Artists: Provides a ₹6,000/month pension to eligible artists and scholars aged 60+.
  • Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH): Supports NGOs and cultural groups in preserving traditional practices, including UNESCO-recognised ICH.
