NEWS – Karnataka Government launched Cyber Security Policy 2024
HIGHLIGHTS
Launch and Objectives:
- Launched to combat rising cybercrimes and enhance digital infrastructure protection.
- Focuses on awareness, skill building, public-private partnerships, and technology integration.
Financial Allocation:
- Total outflow: Rs 103.87 crore over five years.
- Rs 23.74 crore allocated for incentives and concessions.
Incentives:
- Internship Programme:
- Stipend of Rs 10,000-15,000 per month for up to three months.
- Target: 600 undergraduate and 120 postgraduate interns.
- R&D Projects: Matching grants up to 50% of project R&D costs or Rs 50 lakh.
- Cyber Security Audit: Reimbursement up to Rs 1 lakh for CERT-In empanelled service providers.
Policy Highlights:
- Two Main Parts:
- Building a strong cyber security ecosystem across public, academia, industry, start-ups, and government.
- Strengthening the cyber security posture of state IT assets (internal to state IT teams).
Collaborative Efforts:
- Drafted by the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, S&T, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e-Governance), and Home Department.
- Reviewed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and K-tech Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security (CySecK).
Training and Awareness Programs:
- CISCO Partnership:
- Train 40,000 individuals in cybersecurity skills and awareness.
- Special focus on empowering women.
- Meta Partnership:
- Training one lakh teachers and educating 10 lakh children on online safety.
- Collaboration with social media organizations for safer environments.

Fact-check unit established for misinformation, disinformation, fake news, and deepfakes
