NEWS  – The list of 69 awardees for the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2024 was announced by Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi.

KARNATAKA SAMBHRAMA-50 SUVARNA MAHOTSAVA AWARDS

  • Purpose: Commemorating the golden jubilee of the renaming of the state as Karnataka.
  • Total Awardees: 100 recipients (50 men and 50 women)
  • Prize: Rs. 50,000 per awardee

Notable Awardees

  • Television Achievement: Actor Sihi Kahi Chandru for contributions to the small screen

ABOUT THE RAJYOTSAVA AWARD

  • Established in 1966, this is Karnataka’s second-highest civilian honor.
  • Occasion: Awarded on November 1st annually, coinciding with Kannada Rajyotsava, Karnataka’s state formation day.
  • Eligibility: Recognizes individuals for contributions in fields such as:
    • Arts, Literature, Science, Education, Social Service, Sports, Medicine, Industry, and Public Affairs.
  • Inclusivity: Open to non-residents who contribute to Karnataka’s welfare.
  • Exceptions: Not awarded in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, and 2009.
  • Financial and Material Rewards:
    • 5 lakh cash prize
    • 24-gram gold medal
