NEWS – The Karnataka Sahitya Academy announced its 2022 literary awards, honoring outstanding contributions to Kannada literature.

Honorary Awards for 2022
- Recipients: The Karnataka Sahitya Academy has awarded its 2022 honorary award to five distinguished writers for their contributions to Kannada literature:
- R K Hudagi
- Agrahara Krishnamurthy
- Indira Hegde
- Ramzan Dargah
- Tumbadi Ramaiah
- Award Details: Each recipient will receive:
- Rs 50,000 in prize money
- A certificate
- A plaque
- A shawl
Sahityashree Awards for 2022
- Awardees: The following individuals received the 2022 Sahityashree award, which includes a Rs 25,000 cash prize:

2021 Book Prizes
- Purpose: Awarded for literary works deemed best in various categories in 2021.
- Notable Winners:
- Dadapeer Jyman: Kannada translation of Purdah and Polygamy by Iqbalunnissa Hussain.
- Cheemanahalli Rameshbabu: Poetry collection Ragi Kaalu.
- G V Anandamurthy: Short story collection Gunasagari matthu itara kathegalu.
2021 Endowment Awards
- Recipients: Eight writers won the 2021 endowment awards for notable contributions to Kannada literature.
Additional Announcements and Initiatives
- 2023 Awards: Selection of awardees for the 2023 awards will take place this year.
- New Book Initiative: The academy plans to publish a book showcasing the achievements of 50 women.
- Young Writers Workshop: In collaboration with the Gandhi Krishna Vignana Kendra (GKVK), a three-day workshop for approximately 50 young writers will be organized. Goals include:
- Providing opportunities for young writers to interact with farmers.
- Creating a book focused on farming practices, to be published in Kannada.
