NEWS – As many as 46 projects worth Rs 11,770 crore related to Kalyana Karnataka region were among 56 worth Rs 12,692 crore announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after the Cabinet meeting  

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Projects Announced
   • 46 projects worth Rs 11,770 crore for Kalyana Karnataka.
   • Total of 56 projects announced, valued at Rs 12,692 crore.
2. Creation of Separate Secretariat
   • Separate secretariat for the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB).
   • Aimed at effective implementation of Article 371J.
3. Request for Central Government Support
   • Resolution to urge the Union government for Rs 5,000 crore allocation.
   • KKRDB to receive Rs 5,000 crore annually from the state government.
4. Drinking Water Projects
   • Regular drinking water supply to villages in Bidar and Kalaburagi districts.
5. Upgrading Municipal Councils
   • Bidar and Raichur city municipal councils to be upgraded to municipal corporations.
6. Filling of Vacant Posts
   • 17,439 posts in Kalyana Karnataka region to be filled.
7. Monument Renovation
   • Approval for protection and renovation of historical sites like Anubhav Mantap and Anjanadri Hills.
8. Health Infrastructure Development
   • 45 primary health centres and 31 community health centres to be set up.
   • Upgrading of 9 taluk hospitals in the region.
9. Addressing Regional Imbalance
   • Regional imbalance to be studied through a committee led by economist Govindaraj, with a report expected in six months.
