NEWS: Khurasani Imli, the fruit of the famous Baobab tree found in Mandu (Mandav), Madhya Pradesh, has been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag.

ABOUT
- Khurasani Imlià Fruit of the Baobab tree, found mainly in Mandu (Mandav), Madhya Pradesh.
- It was introduced to Mandu during the reign of Mahmud Khilji in the 14th century.
- Also popularly known as Mandav Imli.
- Recently received the GI Tag, recognizing its unique geographical identity.
KEY FEATURES
- Produces light green fruits with a distinctive sweet-sour, tangy taste.
- Rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and essential minerals.
- Grows across several villages in the Mandu region.
MEDICINAL IMPORTANCE
- Traditionally used by tribal communities to treat: Diabetes, Digestive disorders, Fever, Fatigue
- Fruit pulp, juice, seeds, and bark are valued in traditional medicine.
