NEWS – LSAM 13 (Yard 81) – Fifth Barge of Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge Project launched

HIGHLIGHTS

• Project: 08 x Missile Cum Ammunition Barge Project
• Builder: MSME Shipyard, M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd (SEPPL), Visakhapatnam
• Built for Indian Navy (IN)
• Purpose: To enhance operational commitments of the Indian Navy by facilitating transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of articles and ammunition to Indian Navy ships both alongside jetties and at outer harbors.

Technical and Design Details

• Design and Construction:
  • Indigenously designed and built under Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS)
  • Model testing conducted at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam
• Significance:
  • These barges are a testament to the Make in India initiative by the Government of India (GoI)
  • They represent advancements in indigenous shipbuilding capabilities and technology.
