NEWS: The Government has strengthened technology-enabled citizen participation against drug abuse and trafficking through MANAS as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative.

ABOUT MANAS

• Launched: 18 July 2024.
• Full Form: Madak Padarth Nishedh Asoochna Kendra.
• Nodal Agency: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs.
• Developed in collaboration with the Digital India Corporation.

OBJECTIVE

• Enable confidential reporting of drug trafficking, peddling, illegal cultivation, and other narcotics-related activities.
• Provide counselling and de-addiction support to persons affected by substance abuse.

KEY FEATURES

• Accessible through Helpline 1933, official portal, email, and the UMANG app.
• Uses digital ticket generation, workflow management, report tracking, and data analytics for faster response.
• Addiction-related calls are transferred to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment's de-addiction helpline (14446).
• Integrates with 30 NCB Zonal Units and 36 State/UT Anti-Narcotics Task Forces for coordinated action.
