NEWS – METOC (Meteorological and Oceanographic) seminar ‘Meghayan-24’ was conducted on occasion of World Meteorological Day
HIGHLIGHTS
- “Meghayan-24” was organized by by School of Naval Oceanology & Meteorology (SNOM) and Indian Naval Meteorological Analysis Centre (INMAC) at Southern Naval Command, focusing on the theme “At the Frontline of Climate Action” set by WMO for 2024.
- An indigenous mobile app called INDRA was launched to provide weather-related information and forecasts for efficient decision-making

- Acronym – Indian Naval Dynamic Resource for Weather Analysis
- The INDRA app is designed to disseminate weather-related information and forecasts.
- Its purpose is to empower optimal and quick decision-making processes, particularly in the context of naval operations.
- BISAG (Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics) developed the app in coordination with the Directorate of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology, Indian Navy.
- This collaboration ensures that the app provides accurate and reliable weather analysis resources to facilitate informed decision-making.
