NEW CLEAN MOBILITY POLICY  

NEWS – Karnataka government unveiled a Clean Mobility Policy at the Global Investors Meet.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Aims to create 1 lakh jobs and attract ₹50,000 crore in investments by 2030.
  • Vision: Position Karnataka as the premier destination for clean mobility vehicle manufacturing.

Key Objectives

  • Make Karnataka Asia’s top destination for clean mobility technology and EV production.
  • Establish a robust EV charging and hydrogen station infrastructure.
  • Provide incentives and concessions for setting up EV plants and clean mobility clusters.

Policy Benefits & Incentives

  • Incentives for EV manufacturers, battery producers, and component suppliers.
  • MSME benefits:
    • Capital subsidies
    • Exemption from stamp duties & registration charges
    • Reimbursement of land conversion fees
    • Electricity tariff exemptions
  • EV Clusters earmarked in Chikkaballapur, Dharwad, and Ramanagara.
  • Encouraging last-mile connectivity:
    • Support for e-rickshaws & EV auto-rickshaws in collaboration with BMRCL, KRIDE, BMTC, KSRTC.
    • Retrofitting incentives for existing two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers.

EV & CLEAN ENERGY INVESTMENTS IN KARNATAKA

Hero Future Energies 20,000 Crore E-Methanol Plant

  • First-of-its-kind plant in Harihar (Davangere) to convert industrial smoke into e-methanol.
  • Collaboration with Grasim Industries to capture emissions for green fuel production.

Other Major Investments

  • Epsilon Group – ₹15,350 Crore: EV battery testing & advanced materials facility.
  • Lam Research – ₹10,000 Crore: Semiconductor manufacturing investment.
  • Japan-based firms – ₹7,500 Crore: Investments across automobile, automation, and advanced technology sectors.
  • TVS Motor – ₹2,000 Crore: Expansion in Mysuru & new Global Capability Centre.
  • Nirani Sugars – ₹2,000 Crore: Polylactic acid manufacturing in Bagalkot, creating 600–800 jobs.

Existing EV Growth in Karnataka

  • ₹25,000 crore EV investments already attracted.
  • 2.5 lakh EVs registered – 3rd highest in India.
  • 5,403 charging stations installed by public & private agencies.
