HIGHLIGHTS

INCENTIVE SCHEME FOR DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF OILSEEDS

  • Overview
    • Objective: Boost domestic production of oilseeds (mustard, groundnut, soybean, sunflower, sesamum).
    • Budget: ₹10,103 crore.
    • Aim: Reduce dependence on edible oil imports, which currently meet 60% of domestic demand.
  • Mission Implementation
    • Timeline: 2024-25 to 2030-31.
    • Scheme Name: National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseeds.
    • Target: Increase primary oilseed production from 39 million tonnes (2022-23) to 69.7 million tonnes (2030-31).
  • Connection with Previous Initiatives
    • 2021 Scheme: Oil palm cultivation initiative.
    • Combined Output Goal: Increase edible oil production to 254.5 lakh tonnes by 2030-31, fulfilling 72% of India’s edible oil needs.

    • Proposal: Rationalisation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes under the Ministry of Agriculture into two umbrella schemes.

MODIFICATION OF PRODUCTIVITY-LINKED REWARD (PLR) SCHEME FOR PORTS

  • PLR Scheme Revision
    • Timeline: 2020-21 to 2025-26.
    • Beneficiaries: 20,704 employees of Major Port Authorities and Dock Labour Board.
  • Key Changes
    • Performance Focus: Shift to port-specific performance, with a gradual increase in weightage from 50% to 60% by 2025-26.
    • Financial Implication: ₹200 crore for the entire period.
    • Bonus Calculation: Wage ceiling set at ₹7,000 per month.
