NEWS  – The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched PM YASASVI to uplift students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified Tribes (DNT) by providing access to quality education. The scheme aims to promote educational empowerment, overcome financial barriers, and create a more inclusive and equitable society.

HIGHLIGHTS

Key Features

• Pre-Matric Scholarship: For students in classes IX and X, offering Rs. 4,000 annual academic allowance to families with income below Rs. 2.5 lakh.
• Post-Matric Scholarship: Supports students pursuing post-secondary education with academic allowances ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000.
• Top Class School and College Education: Meritorious students receive funding up to Rs. 1.25 lakh annually for school and full financial support for college.
• Construction of Hostels: Rs. 12.75 crore allocated for OBC boys and girls near government schools and institutions.

• Open to OBC, EBC, and DNT students with annual family income up to Rs. 2.50 lakh
• Apply online at National Scholarship Portal: scholarships.gov.in
• Selection based on YASASVI Entrance Test (YET) 2023, conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA)
