NEWS – India has kickstarted the process of unifying its four airspace regions into one spanning the entire nation under Project ISHAN.
PROJECT ISHAN
- Indian Single Sky Harmonized Air Traffic Management (ISHAN) aims to streamline and enhance air traffic management in India.
- Unify the four Flight Information Regions (FIRs) in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai into one continuous airspace in Nagpur, implementing harmonized Air Traffic Management from Nagpur.
- Expected to streamline operations, boost capacity, and reduce congestion, benefiting airlines and passengers.
AAI (AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA)
- Under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
- Established on April 1, 1995, by merging the National Airports Authority and the International Airports Authority of India.
- Develops, upgrades, maintains, and manages civil aviation infrastructure in India.
- Provides Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas
