SAMAGRA SHIKSHA SCHEME
What is in news : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, has given its approval for continuation of the revised Samagra Shiksha Scheme for a period of five years till 2026
About the scheme :
- Under – Ministry of Human Resource Development
- Subsumes the three Schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education (TE)
- Scheme treats school education holistically as a continuum from Pre-school to Class 12.
- The main emphasis of the Scheme is on improving the quality of school education by focussing on the two T’s – Teacher and Technology
- A vocational subject is offered for Classes IX to XII along with the general education to provide necessary employability and vocational skills for a variety of occupations.
- The vision of the Scheme is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education from pre-school to senior secondary stage in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-4) for Education
