NEWS – Karnataka State Government and British Council Partner to Enhance Student Skillsets

HIGHLIGHTS

Objective: To address employability concerns and enhance the quality of higher education in Karnataka.

Programmes Launched

  1. Scholars for Outstanding Undergraduate Talent (SCOUT)
    • Purpose: To enhance the skills of selected students and faculty.
    • Selection: 30 individuals will be chosen (5 students and 1 faculty member from each of the following universities):
      • Bangalore University
      • Bengaluru City University
      • Gulbarga University
      • Raichur University
      • Tumkur University
      • Rani Channamma University
    • Activity: Two-week learning camp at the University of East London (November 9 to 22).
  2. Skills for Youth in Students
    • Objective: To improve English language proficiency among students.
    • Partnership: British Council and Microsoft India.
    • Target: 5,795 students from 16 government engineering colleges.
  3. Capacity Building Training for International Officers
    • Objective: To support the internationalization of Indian universities.
    • Participants: 56 participants from 28 state universities.
    • Focus: Workshop to enhance skills for international collaboration.
  4. Freemium Digital Library Wall
    • Location: Bengaluru Central University.
    • Offerings: Access to a Freemium layer of digital content for both students and teachers.
