Shipki La: India and China resumed border trade via Shipki La through the new Chhuppan Trade Mart at Namgya village after six years of suspension since 2020+ Shipki La, at about 3,930 metres, is a motorable mountain pass connecting Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district with China’s Tibet Autonomous Region+ It lies on National Highway 5+ Historically called Pema La (Shared Pass), it was part of the ancient Silk Route. It became part of the Line of Actual Control following the 1962 conflict+ The Sutlej, known as Langqen Zangbo in Tibet, enters India via Shipki La.
