- The Civil Aviation Ministry has tabled the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024 in the Lok Sabha to replace the 1934 Aircraft Act, aiming to streamline aviation certification by transferring the radio telephone operator restricted (RTR) exam from the Department of Telecom to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Bill, which faced protests for its Hindi name, seeks to address ambiguities in the outdated Aircraft Act and improve ease of doing business. It will centralize certification, benefiting pilots and aviation personnel, and potentially reduce issues with the RTR exam.

- The Indian Army is procuring the Advanced Land Navigation System (ALNS) Mk-II, a Ring Laser Gyro (RLG) based navigation system, for its Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs), which provides spoof-proof and highly encrypted Inertial, GPS, and Hybrid Navigation data, compatible with Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), GPS, and GLONASS, and offers high accuracy in navigational applications, to be indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Chennai.
- Archaeologists discovered a Vattezhuthu script and eight Tamil inscriptions at the 1,000-year-old Thalikiswarar temple in Tamil Nadu, shedding light on the ancient writing system Vattezhuthu, a syllabic alphabet used to write Tamil and Malayalam languages in south India and Sri Lanka from the 4th century AD to the 15th century AD, which evolved from Tamil-Brahmi script and influenced the development of Malayalam and Koleluttu scripts.

- Karnataka’s Department of School Education and Literacy has announced new initiatives. To reduce school bag weight, note sheets and divided textbooks will be introduced.
