- The Duty Drawback Scheme, initiated by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), aims to promote exports and economic growth by providing rebates on Customs and Central Excise duties for imported and excisable materials used in export goods. The scheme, outlined in the Customs Act, 1962, ensures zero-rating of exports, making them tax-free to enhance competitiveness. Eligibility includes goods imported into India and then exported, used domestically before export, or manufactured from imported or local materials. To claim, the exporter must legally own the goods at export, and customs duty must have been paid. CBIC, operating under the Ministry of Finance, oversees indirect tax policies, customs and excise duties collection, and smuggling prevention through its various subordinate organizations.
- The Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) recent Request for Selection (RfS) for Green Ammonia Producers is a pivotal step in India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). This initiative aims to select Green Ammonia Producers via competitive bidding for a total capacity of 5.39 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) per annum, targeting supply to fertilizer companies. The selection process involves online e-bidding and e-Reverse Auction to ensure cost-effectiveness. The SIGHT Programme, a subcomponent of NGHM, supports this effort by incentivizing domestic electrolyser manufacturing and green hydrogen production. Launched on January 4, 2023, with a budget of Rs. 19,744 crores, the NGHM strives to reduce carbon emissions, achieve energy independence, and establish India as a global leader in Green Hydrogen technology
- The Health Ministry and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) are collaborating to launch the National Health Claim Exchange (NHCX) to improve the current manual and non-standardized claim processing system in India. This platform aims to facilitate seamless, interoperable, and standardized health claim information exchange among all stakeholders, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and reducing administrative burdens. The NHCX will use open standards and offer financial incentives to hospitals, aiming to standardize healthcare pricing and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for patients.
