• Japanese architect Riken Yamamoto was declared winner of the 2024 Pritzker Architecture Prize. It is the highest international award in the field, which is sometimes referred to as the “Architecture Nobel” and “the profession’s highest honor.” The prize has been awarded every year since its founding in 1979. It is awarded to a living architect/s for significant achievement. It was established by the Pritzker family of Chicago through their Hyatt Foundation
• ‘Nambike Nakshe’ – Initiative of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) that allows property owners planning to build a house of up to four floors on a plot less than 50×80 square feet to obtain approval online without having to visit the BBMP office. Documents are shared with the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) to verify buffers required for nala (primary, secondary and tertiary), lake, heritage buildings, and railway boundary, among others

• The Sela Tunnel, constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at an altitude of 13,000 feet, has been inaugurated. It links Tezpur, Assam, to Tawang in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, with a total cost of Rs 825 crore. This tunnel ensures all-weather connectivity to Tawang through Sela Pass on the Balipara–Chariduar–Tawang Road. Its benefits include enhancing Armed Forces’ preparedness and fostering socio-economic development in the border region
• ISRO’s meteorological satellite, INSAT-3DS, has commenced earth imaging operations, capturing initial images with its meteorological payloads. Launched in collaboration with the India Meteorological Organisation (IMD), INSAT-3DS is part of the INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR series. It was launched through GSLV-F14 and is designed to enhance climate services with advanced imaging and atmospheric sounder capabilities
• India successfully tested an Agni missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, capable of carrying multiple warheads to hit various targets simultaneously. Named Mission Divyastra. The Agni-5 missile, developed by DRDO over a decade, has a range of 5,500 to 5,800 kilometers, making it an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)
