- The high-level committee on Simultaneous Elections in India, chaired by Ram Nath Kovind, recommends constitutional amendments for simultaneous elections at multiple levels of government. It proposes a two-step process, first for Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, and second for municipalities and panchayats. Additionally, it suggests a single electoral roll and ID system, procedures for resolving hung houses or no-confidence motions, and emphasizes proactive logistical planning by the Election Commission. These measures aim to streamline the electoral process and ensure efficient governance.

- The Ministry of Heavy Industries unveils the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 with a budget of Rs. 500 crore. Running from April 1 to July 31, it targets electric two-wheelers (e-2W) and three-wheelers (e-3W), including registered e-rickshaws and e-carts. Primarily catering to commercial vehicles, privately or corporate owned e-2Ws are also eligible. It aims to support 3,72,215 EVs, fostering Aatma Nirbhar Bharat by bolstering domestic manufacturing and employment opportunities, following the Phased Manufacturing Programme. Detailed guidelines will be issued by the Ministry.
