ABOUT STROKE
- Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood supply to the brain is interrupted.
- This interruption may happen due to:
- Blockage of blood vessels (Ischemic Stroke)
- Rupture/bleeding of blood vessels (Hemorrhagic Stroke)
- Reduced blood flow causes rapid death of brain cells due to lack of oxygen and nutrients.
- WHO identifies stroke as one of the leading causes of: Death worldwide, long-term disability, neurological disorders
