NEWS – Ladakh recently became the first administrative unit to achieve full functional literacy under the ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram (New India Literacy Program).

- Full Form: Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS)
- Implementation Period: 2022-2027
- Type: Centrally sponsored scheme
- Alignment: Aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
Aim
- Target Group: Adults aged 15 years and above from all backgrounds who missed out on schooling
- Objective: Empower these adults to integrate with society and contribute to the country’s growth
