NEWS: Pune-based defence company Nibe Limited successfully tested its indigenous loitering munition system “Vayu Astra-1” for the Indian Army at: Pokhran, Rajasthan and Joshimath (Malari), Uttarakhand

Vayu Astra-1

•        Vayu Astra-1 is a type of Loitering Munition.

•        It is also called a: Suicide drone, Kamikaze drone

•        It can fly over an area for some time (“loiter”).

•        After locating the target, it attacks and destroys it.

Key Features

•        Equipped with: 10 kg warhead

•        Successfully hit target at: 100 km range

•        Accuracy achieved: CEP (Circular Error Probable) less than 1 metre

•        Very high targeting accuracy.

Special Features

•        Abort attack capabilityà Attack can be cancelled mid-way.

•        Reattack capabilityà Can attack again after aborting mission.
