NEWS – National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) unveiled the Women Entrepreneurship Program

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Objective:
    • Empower women entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth.
    • Address distinct challenges faced by women in starting and growing businesses.
  • Partner: Britannia Industries Limited.
  • Features: Financial grants + Product and service exposure on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH).

Program Details:

  • Courses Offered: Complimentary self-learning entrepreneurship courses available in multiple languages on SIDH.
  • Certification: Co-branded certificates from NSDC, Britannia Industries, and NIESBUD upon course completion.
  • Target: Empower approximately 25 lakh women across India.

Competition and Awards:

  • Grand Finale: Top 50 contestants to present business ideas to a distinguished jury.
  • Awards: Britannia Industries to grant 10 lakh rupees each to 10 successful contestants.

Program Phases:

  1. Phase 1:
    • Free Online Courses: Covering entrepreneurial skills, enterprise setup, finance basics, digital skills, and market analysis.
    • Platform: Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH).
  2. Phase 2:
    • Incubation Support: For 10,000 shortlisted contestants.
    • Support Includes: Business model selection, entrepreneurship development programs, industrial workshops, business registration assistance, project report preparation, and funding guidance.
    • Exposure: Products and services highlighted on SIDH’s e-commerce platform, UdhyamKart, and Britannia’s digital ecosystem.

Impact Assessment:

  • Periodic evaluations to assess the success and sustainability of supported businesses.

Overall Goal:

  • Broaden the reach and visibility of women-led enterprises.
  • Create a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to India’s economic advancement.

NATIONAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

  • It was established on July 31, 2008, as a not-for-profit public limited companyunder section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956.
  • It operates as a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) model under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
