CONTEXT
- Karnataka has been a leading hub for innovation, tech startups, and R&D in India.
- Bengaluru, known as the “Silicon Valley of India,” has global recognition in deep-tech capabilities.
- Government of Karnataka aims to reinforce its leadership in global innovation and digital economy.
CONCEPT – GLOBAL INNOVATION HUB (DISTRICT I)
- A joint initiative by Karnataka Government, Bangalore Airport City Limited (BACL), and ANSR.
- Located within BACL’s Business Park at Bengaluru Airport City.
- Functions as a collaborative innovation platform for deep-tech entrepreneurship and commercial R&D.
- Designed to integrate:
- Global Capability Centers (GCCs)
- IT service providers
- Startups, VCs, accelerators
- Corporate R&D labs
- Academia & public institutions
- Focus areas:
- AI, quantum computing, blockchain
- Customer experience technologies
- Industry verticals supported:
- Aerospace, space tech, smart cities
- Retail, BFSI, telecom, manufacturing, defence

- District I is a flagship project in BACL’s 28 million sq. ft. Business Park.
