NEWS – National Highway Authority of India Launches ‘Project Aarohan’ to Support Education of Toll Plaza Employees’ Children

- Launched on: 26 August 2025 at NHAI HQ, New Delhi.
- By: NHAI in collaboration with Vertis Infrastructure Trust.
- Implementing Agency: Bharat Cares (SMEC Trust).
- Aim: Remove financial barriers, bridge socio-economic divides, and ensure equal access to quality education.
Target Beneficiaries
- Children of toll plaza employees.
- Focus on girls, first-generation learners, and students from EWS, SC/ST, OBC, and minority communities.
Key Features of ‘Project Aarohan’
- Fund Allocation (Phase I): ₹1 crore (July 2025 – March 2026).
- Coverage:
- 500 students (Class 11 to graduation) – ₹12,000 annual scholarship.
- 50 meritorious students (PG/higher studies) – ₹50,000 scholarship each.
- Beyond Financial Aid:
- Mentorship and career guidance.
- Skill-building workshops.
- Support for entrepreneurship and employability.
Implementation and Selection Process
- Mode: Online portal for applications.
- Requirements: Academic records, income proof, caste certificate, ID proof, etc.
- Selection: Transparent, inclusive process with progress tracking and renewal mechanisms.

- Nationwide coverage across toll plazas on National Highways.
