HIGHLIGHTS
Launch and Objective
- Released by: Shri Akash Tripathi, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power & DG, BEE.
- Developed by: Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).
- Purpose: To assess and track energy efficiency (EE) progress of 36 States/UTs for FY 2023-24.
- Aims at data-driven monitoring, best practice sharing, and fostering healthy competition among states.
Framework and Indicators
- 6th edition of SEEI introduces an implementation-focused framework.
- Covers 66 indicators across 7 sectors:
- Buildings
- Industry
- Municipal Services
- Transport
- Agriculture
- DISCOMs
- Cross-sector initiatives
- New focus areas include EV policies, star-rated buildings, and Demand Side Management (DSM) strategies.
Performance Categories
- States/UTs classified into four groups:
- Front Runners (>60%)
- Achievers (50–60%)
- Contenders (30–50%)
- Aspirants (<30%)
Top Performers (by energy consumption group)
- Maharashtra – Group 1 (>15 MToE)
- Andhra Pradesh – Group 2 (5–15 MToE)
- Assam – Group 3 (1–5 MToE)
- Tripura – Group 4 (<1 MToE)
Sectoral Highlights
- 24 states have notified Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) 2017.
- 10 states have policies for MSME energy efficiency.
- 31 states adopted electric mobility policies.
- 13 states promote solar-powered agricultural pumps (Kerala leads with 74% adoption).
- All 36 States/UTs prepared State Energy Efficiency Action Plans (SEEAPs).
- 31 states formed Steering Committees on Energy Transition.
