- Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a series of youth-centric initiatives worth over ₹62,000 crore aimed at enhancing education, skill development, and entrepreneurship across India.
- The announcements were made during the ‘Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh’ held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where the PM emphasized that “skill plays an important role in nation-building.”
HIGHLIGHTS
PM–SETU: Modernising ITIs for Future Skills
- The Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM–SETU) scheme.
- The initiative will upgrade over 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) nationwide, introducing modern machinery and global-standard training modules.
- PM Modi said the project will connect India’s youth with global skill demands and strengthen the foundation of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Skill University in Honour of Karpoori Thakur
- The PM announced the establishment of a Skill University named after Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, honouring his lifelong contribution to social service.
- The university will serve as a centre of excellence in vocational and technical education, aligned with India’s future workforce needs.
Vocational Skill Labs Across the Country
- PM Modi inaugurated 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs in 400 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 States and Union Territories.
- These labs aim to provide hands-on training and promote practical learning among school students.
