  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched the Karnataka Skill Development Policy 2025–32 at the Bengaluru Skill Summit.
  • The policy outlines a seven-year strategic blueprint with a financial outlay of ₹4,432 crore.
  • Objective: To establish Karnataka as a global hub for a skilled, inclusive, and future-ready workforce.

  • The policy aligns with the post-pandemic global economic demands and the State’s $1 trillion economy goal.
  • It seeks to create a comprehensive, industry-linked skilling ecosystem integrating all existing schemes.
  • Emphasis on lifelong learning, reskilling, and upskilling to ensure employability in emerging sectors.

Key Targets and Focus Areas

  • Training Target: 3 million youth to be skilled by 2032.
  • Women Empowerment: Increase women’s ITI enrolment to 33%.
  • Capacity Expansion: Double district-level skilling capacity across Karnataka.
  • Global Opportunities: Strengthen international employment linkages via International Migration Centre–Karnataka (IMC-K).

Inclusivity and Special Interventions

  • The policy prioritises marginalised communities, persons with disabilities, and the informal workforce.
  • Special focus on ensuring equitable access to technical and vocational education.

 Industry Collaboration and Education Linkages

  • Promotes industry partnerships, apprenticeships, and joint training programmes.
  • Supports collaboration between academia and industry for curriculum modernisation.
  • Karnataka currently has 270 engineering colleges producing 1.6 lakh graduates annually and 1,160 ITIs, forming a strong talent base.

Institutional Framework and Implementation

  • Implementation led by Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC), Skill Development Authority (KSDA), and Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM).
  • The Bengaluru Skill Summit serves as a platform for global knowledge exchange and partnership building.
